Flavor of the Week: Raising Cane’s

When we hear chicken fingers, we think Raising Cane’s.The Baton Rouge-born chicken finger restaurant was recently named Nation’s Restaurant News’ fastest growingrestaurant chain in 2017. Obviously, we know why… chicken fingers, coleslaw, Cane’s sauce, crinkle-cut fries and TEXAS TOAST. Our mouths are watering just thinking about it! While they are famous for a simple but delicious menu, the company is also a notable community partner with initiatives in education, feeding the hungry, pet welfare, active lifestyles, andmore. My Baton Rouge: Sock it to Me!

It may seem silly to think about socks when it’s over 90 degrees outside, but we Southerners know that when the A/C kicks on, the indoors tend to feel like an icebox. To keep your toes warm, we recommend slipping into the specially-made Baton Rouge bicentennial socks created in collaboration by Bonfolk and Visit Baton Rouge.

The stylish socks featuring Baton Rouge’s signature red stick are available exclusively at Studio C located on Government St. And here’s the kicker, they are for a good cause! For each pair sold, a pair is donated to a local homeless shelter. Damien Boisert, Studio C owner, first got the idea to sell the socks from a Bonfolk advertisement on social media. The company’s simple mission to provide the homeless with socks struck Boisert and he wanted to bring that idea to Baton Rouge. Now selling the bicentennial socks, Boisert is helping the homeless with one pairof socks at a time. That is my Baton Rouge.
