The 2021 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature was a clear success for economic development in the Capital Region, perhaps more than in any legislative session of recent history if they become law. Moreover, when taken in combination with tort reform passage in 2020, Louisiana is taking major strides to being more competitive for economic growth.
BRAC Supports Ending Federal Unemployment Enhancements to Incentivize Return to Work
BRAC announced on June 3 its Board of Directors has adopted a policy position calling on state leaders to end the federal unemployment enhancement payments before their planned expiration in September.

Capitol 411: June 1 Update
Last week’s biggest news was that the Legislature passed the state’s $38 billion operating budget two weeks ahead of schedule. Passing the budget early is a dramatic shift from recent years, when special sessions were needed to pass the budget after budget negotiations failed during the regular legislative session.
