Blue Cross and Blue Shield to present award spotlighting innovative health practices in Capital Region businesses

BATON ROUGE, La. (June 25, 2019) —  The Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) today announced it is now accepting applications for its inaugural Capital Region Employee Health Innovation Award. The award, presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, will recognize companies in the community that have implemented and promoted innovative practices which led to healthier and more productive employees in the workplace.

Applications are available to companies within the nine-parish Capital Region through July 25 at brac.org/healthinnovation.

“This award will not only allow us to recognize and celebrate companies for providing a healthy workplace, but also to help good ideas spread and encourage more companies to get smarter about employee health,” said Adam Knapp, president and CEO of BRAC. “The war for talent is intense, and businesses who embrace these types of internal programming often see better retention and employee engagement.”

A selection of members from the business and health community will participate in a judges’ panel to oversee the evaluation, selection, and presentation of the Capital Region Employee Health Innovation Award.

“Innovation in healthcare is a priority as we work to improve the state of health in Louisiana. In order to have the impact that will be meaningful and lasting, we want to promote innovative companies—and share the learnings—with other organizations so that we can help support a healthier, productive workforce in the greater Baton Rouge region,” said Blue Cross Senior Vice President of Strategy and Innovation Darrell Langlois.
