BATON ROUGE, La. (August 1, 2017) — The Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) today announced a partnership to elevate the region’s image through an earned media strategy.
BRAC, the Baton Rouge Area Foundation (BRAF), Visit Baton Rouge (VBR), and the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR) partnered to contract Development Counsellors International (DCI), a national firm that specializes in marketing places. The initial media relations contract has a term of one year, with the intention of extending for at least another two.
“Greater national awareness of the Baton Rouge Area is a win for everyone,” said Adam Knapp, president and CEO of BRAC. “Those who don’t know anything about the region will never visit or invest. We are excited to be working with our partners on a long-range strategy that has been sorely needed for many years now. The Capital Region is ambitious, with amazing people, unique culture and a drive to take things to the next level. We’re excited to tell our story to the rest of the country.”
The announcement was made at BRAC’s Monthly Lunch event, held August 1 at the East Baton Rouge Parish Library at Goodwood. Rebecca Gehman with DCI was the featured speaker. Gehman shared with the audience key takeaways from DCI’s immersion tour of the Baton Rouge Area, a case study of brand building, and actionable ways that local businesses and residents can engage to tell the region’s story.
Elevating the region’s external image was identified as a core goal of BRAC’s five-year regional strategic plan, Think Bigger.
