BRAC Announces Return of InternBR Program

Initiative to target Capital Region student interns for professional development

Baton Rouge, La. (March 31, 2017) – The Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) today announced the return of InternBR, an initiative of its Talent Development department designed to provide area student interns with professional development focused on leadership and communication skills needed to excel in the workplace. The six-week program, presented by Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., will take place in June and July and will include skills development workshops, service and social events, and a graduation ceremony. Applications are available online at brac.org/internbr and will be accepted through Sunday, April 30.

“Access to talent is a priority for continued economic growth,” said Adam Knapp, president and CEO of BRAC. “Our objective with the InternBR program is not only to complement the on-the-job training students receive through internships, but also to connect millennial talent with all the Capital Region has to offer, ultimately keeping Baton Rouge on their radar as a great place to live and work after graduation.”

Professional communication and leadership topics include behavior preferences and leadership styles, email and workplace etiquette, personal branding, and interview preparation. Participants will also experience a service and social event to connect them with young professional organizations in the area.

InternBR is a competitive application-based program. Interested participants must have a summer internship in the Baton Rouge Area, be enrolled in a college or university, and have permission from a direct supervisor. Applications are open through Sunday, April 30. Selected candidates will be notified in May. Interns and/or employers may complete the application and learn more online at brac.org/internbr.
