BRAC Issues emergency preparedness recommendations for businesses

Greater Baton Rouge Business Report

The Baton Rouge Area Chamber today released its recommendations for businesses preparing for hurricane season, which officially begins today.

BRAC advises businesses to create detailed plans for handling severe weather, including workplace evacuation strategies, emergency contacts and duplications of all important records.

It also recommends companies establish a means of and a plan for contacting employees displaced by a disaster.

In the event of a tropical storm or hurricane the National Hurricane Center will have the latest tracking information, watches, warnings and alerts available online.

Should a federal emergency be declared in our area, BRAC will issue specific contact information and physical locations for obtaining business disaster loans available through the Small Business Administration and any assistance programs offered through Louisiana state government.
