BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) – Baton Rouge Area Chamber released its platform of education and economic policies that they consider to be important for any candidate for the East Baton Rouge School Board to adopt.
According to the release, based on input received throughout the platform’s development the platform asks candidates to commit to actively pursue 10 policies focused on creating a future of better education outcomes for EBR’s families. As the lead economic development organization in Baton Rouge, BRAC believes that economic growth is connected to a quality public education as their research has shown that education directly impacts every aspect of quality of life.
“The school board’s role in economic development is bigger than ever: its responsibility to provide an excellent education is now coupled with a new ability to attract manufacturing projects to the parish, creating even more of an opportunity to drive prosperity for families in EBR,” the release read.
Although EBR school district has made drastic improvements in increasing outcomes in EBR schools there are still significant challenges that the district must address.
BRAC’s platform for EBR school board candidates includes education improvement strategies that have been used elsewhere to great success.
“Quality public education is a cornerstone to the future success of any community,” said Adam Knapp, president and CEO of BRAC.
The strategies focus on improving the lowest-performing schools in the district, ensuring the economic vitality within the parish, and providing access to an excellent public school for every student in the parish.
