Emergent Method’s New Standard for Hiring Interns

BRAC, LSU and Southern University have partnered to promote Handshake, the largest early talent recruiting platform connecting employers, talent, and colleges all in one place. Businesses of any size can access students and alumni of LSU and Southern behind a single free login.

We chatted with Rachel Carroccio, director of human resources at Emergent Method, to learn more about her company’s experience with the platform.

Check out why she believes Handshake is the new standard for their recruitment strategy below.

What has been the main benefit of Handshake to your company?

Handshake provides a unique online platform that has been extremely beneficial in attracting, recruiting, and sourcing students and alumni, many of whom we may not have connected with otherwise. It’s easy to use, both from the employer and candidate side, and connects us with this tech-savvy generation of the workforce.

How has Handshake changed your talent recruiting efforts?

As we shift more and more recruiting efforts to a virtual environment, Handshake has made this transition easy and become a one-stop shop for our intern and junior level recruiting needs. We can source students, post jobs, sign up for career fairs, and now attend virtual career fairs all through the online platform.

Can you share a couple Handshake tips and tricks with us?

As a management consulting firm, we’re often simultaneously looking to fill multiple intern or entry level roles that are vastly different and require really different skills. Utilizing filters to hone-in on a pool of candidates organized by major, graduation year, school, skills, etc. provides a tailormade list of candidates to review.

Has your company taken advantage of any of Handshake’s other offerings? If so, how was that experience?

Emergent Method has taken advantage of several functions within Handshake, including direct messages with students, signing up for career fairs, and posting open positions. Handshake is incredibly intuitive and user-friendly, allowing me to accomplish my recruiting tasks quickly and efficiently.

What benefits has an internship program provided to your company? And how has Handshake helped build out your program?

We love our EMterns! Emergent Method takes pride in fostering an environment where interns can learn, grow professionally, and play a significant role in the day-to-day success of our firm and clients. As a small firm that operates with a start-up mentality, we are always looking for hardworking, ambitious talent who can support our team and add value. Handshake proves to be a valuable tool in recruiting the caliber of student we need and expect.
