While the world may know us for our tailgate traditions (as they should), our passion goes beyond the football field. Baton Rouge residents celebrate throughout the year with unique festivals and events, many of which are free and open to the public. Pennington Biomedical Research Center’s Robert L. Newton, Jr., Ph.D., Associate Professor, and Owen Carmichael, Ph.D., Professor, will be hosting the 2nd annual Senior Black American Health Fair scheduled for Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center Conference Building. This free event will bring African American Seniors (age 60+) together with local health professionals to exchange valuable information about African Americans’ health, nutrition, and wellness issues. The Senior Black American Health Fair provides a forum for learning, health experiences, and open discussions about African Americans’ health concerns and challenges. Last year, over 200 men and women attended the inaugural event!
The event and its activities are all 100% free for attendees. The event offerings include health screenings, expert presentations on key health topics for African Americans, exercise, fun activities, and a great group of wellness exhibitors.
