February Investor Spotlight

Meet David Mullens

Occupation: Baton Rouge Market President, SWLA & NCLA Commercial Banking Manager

Organization: Capital One Bank

What does your organization do?

Capital One is a top 10 financial institution that supports retail and small business as well as commercial clients.

What are some advantages of being located/doing business in the Capital Region?

From the standpoint of a National Bank, a big advantage of being in the Capital Region includes the strength of the local economy. The Capital Region is able to take advantage of macro tailwinds that are present in the U.S. economy, but the Capital Region also brings additional lift from the uniqueness that comes from the River, LSU Main Campus, State Capital, etc. In general, I see businesses growing faster, being more robust and more resilient in the Capital Region in comparison to other parts of the state.

Why did you decide to invest in BRAC?

Capital One decided to invest in BRAC because we understand the importance of the economic strength of a region. Economic strength not only creates jobs that people rely on to support their individual families, but also typically supports better healthcare, lower crime, and overall healthier communities and economies. BRAC is a champion for the economy in our region.

What would you say to companies contemplating joining BRAC?

Please join BRAC. The effort to support our economy needs to be perpetuated by everyone participating in the economy. We need business to understand our unique issues and opportunities and how best to address them as a community.   BRAC is an investor-driven organization leading economic development in the nine-parish Baton Rouge Area. BRAC’s investor base includes small businesses, midsize firms, large industry and entrepreneurial startups, as well as other individuals and organizations.

Each month, BRAC highlights one of its investors in the Investor Spotlight. To learn more about becoming an investor, visit the Join BRAC page or schedule a meeting with BRAC’s Investor Development and Relations team.
