FuturePAC Endorses School Board Candidates

BATON ROUGE, La. (September 19, 2018) – This week, FuturePAC announced its endorsement of seven candidates for the upcoming school board election in East Baton Rouge Parish. The primary election will take place on Thursday, November 6, 2018.

To expand opportunities for economic growth, and to prepare the region’s young people to take advantage of economic opportunities, FuturePAC believes that a high-quality public education system that meets the needs of all children is an urgent priority for East Baton Rouge Parish.

“Every child in our community deserves a high-quality education, and the leadership of the school board is critical to that goal,” said Lee Jenkins, chair of the FuturePAC board of directors. “A public school system that effectively educates all students is the bedrock of economic development. In our rapidly changing economy, economic opportunity is more dependent upon education than it has ever been before.”

The endorsed candidates are:

  • Dadrius Lanus, District 2
  • Tramelle Howard, District 3
  • Chrisdelin Kelly Lyles, District 4
  • Evelyn Ware-Jackson, District 5
  • Jill Dyason, District 6
  • Mike Gaudet, District 7
  • David Tatman, District 9

“These candidates have committed to fighting for student-centered policies that will improve student outcomes across the East Baton Rouge Parish School System and collaborating with their fellow school board members to find common ground,” said Jenkins.

Unopposed candidates in districts 1 and 8 did not complete the PAC’s endorsement process.
