The itinerary has been set for the 2015 Super Region Canvas trip area business and civic leaders from Baton Rouge and New Orleans will take to the Phoenix and Tucson regions of Arizona.

The April 19-21 trip is being hosted by the Baton Rouge Area Chamber and Greater New Orleans Inc. to learn about successes driving the two regions in Arizona.

“The canvas trip will feature a diverse panel of experts from the private and public sectors, as well as academia on a range of topics that will be instructive to the Super Region delegation,” said Adam Knapp, president and CEO of BRAC.

Panel presentations will feature education and workforce, health care and bioscience, entrepreneurship, and transportation planning and economic growth.

Grady Gammage Jr., lead author of “Megapolitan: Sun Corridor” and a senior fellow at Arizona State University’s Institute for Public Policy, will outline the region’s 20-year plan to develop into an economically strong and dynamic “super-region.”

Experts from the University of Arizona College of Medicine and Arizona State University, the Mayo Clinic Proton Beam Therapy Center and executives from private industry are slated to speak.

The trip will conclude in Tucson, where the development of streetcar service stimulated the economic revitalization of the downtown area.

The executive director of Maricopa Association of Governments, the Phoenix area’s metropolitan planning organization, will discuss that organization’s nationally recognized, “innovative” approach to transportation infrastructure development.
