Venture capitalist Jeff Cherry will be the keynote speaker for the Baton Rouge Area Chamber’s Big Think event at the Baton Rouge Entrepreneurship Week.
The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Cook Hotel and Conference Center. Tickets are available now.
Cherry serves as executive director of Conscious Venture Lab and the Conscious Venture Fund, an early stage business accelerator and venture capital firm focused on developing companies and leaders who embrace capitalism as a powerful catalyst for good in society.
Cherry’s presentation, “Can Conscious Capitalism Transform our Cities?”, focuses on the idea that social and economic justice are not only inextricably connected, but that connection or lack thereof is a major contributor to many societal ills in America. He proposes a more inclusive form of capitalism that can have a transformational impact on society as a whole.
“We are thrilled to welcome keynote speaker Jeff Cherry back to Baton Rouge for Big Think and BREW,” says BRAC President and CEO Adam Knapp. “His message is particularly powerful as the Baton Rouge community works to rebuild from the tragedies of the summer.”
Cherry’s career spans 25 years of executive leadership, during which time he has developed expertise in technology, design and construction, finance, hospitality, and professional services.
BREW is a week-long series of events to celebrate entrepreneurship and innovation in the Baton Rouge region that begins Nov. 11. Several pre-BREW activities are scheduled in the coming weeks as well, including a pre-conference networking session for the women’s leadership conference She Geauxs!, set for 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Blend, 304 Laurel St. There’s also an all-day workshop on innovation and commercialization featuring speakers from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at the Cook Hotel & Conference Center. The LSU Office of Innovation and Technology Commercialization has partnered with the Louisiana Technology Transfer Office to host this free event, which is open to small businesses and entrepreneurs in Louisiana.
