July Ambassador Spotlight

James Fontenot

Meet James Fontenot

Occupation: Account Executive

Organization: HR Solutions

When and why did you get involved with BRAC?

HR Solutions has been partnering with BRAC to facilitate their Payroll, Benefits, and HR Administration since 2014, but I decided to become more involved as an ambassador in October of 2018. Dustin Puryear of Puryear IT referred me to this program and has spoken highly of the opportunity to be an ambassador. It sparked my interest because I wanted to get more involved, not only to help promote my business, but also to help make a difference in the Baton Rouge community.

Tell us more about how you are involved in Baton Rouge?

I am involved in several local organizationincluding BRACBNI, and Forum 35. I also coach youth baseball and provide pitching lessons to kids ages 10-18 throughout the Baton Rouge Area. It’s my passion to help others and as a life-time baseball player, I am able to mentor young adults and give back to our community.

Why do you stay involved with BRAC?

I stay involved with BRAC not only to promote my local company’s brand and build relationships with some of the top business executives in the nine-parish region, but also to stay involved in current and future developments in Baton Rouge.

What would you tell someone considering becoming a BRAC investor?

I’d highly encourage someone who is interested in joining BRAC as an investor. The resources and the opportunities that BRAC offers to its members have been nothing but a positive experience for myself and the entire HR Solutions family.

What do you see for the future of Baton Rouge? How will we get there?

I predict that we will see the community build its strengths and improve upon some of its weaknesses. If you are from here, then you understand the pride that people have in being from this area. There is so much potential in Baton Rouge and I think that our community will reach that potential through its leaders continuing to put an emphasis on education, job creation, and improvements to the city’s infrastructure.

What’s one of the most exciting things you see happening in the Baton Rouge Area today?

One of the most exciting things that I see happening in the Baton Rouge Area is young professionals, such as myself, starting to get involved in our community. We are striving to build a better future for residents and visitors. BRAC’s Ambassador Program is designed to allow company representatives to actively build relationships with BRAC investors and business leaders while serving as advocates of BRAC’s work.

Each month, BRAC highlights one of these ambassadors in the Ambassador Spotlight. To learn more about the Ambassador Program visit the program page here.
