June Investor Spotlight

Meet Donald Monistere

Occupation: CEO & President

Organization: General Informatics

Do you work on any BRAC working groups, committees or councils? If so, please elaborate.

I am on the Business Development Advisory Council (BDAC), and volunteer with FuturePAC, the political action committee associated with BRAC.

What does your company/organization do?

We are an information technology company specializing in outsourced IT managed services and core infrastructure, including smart buildings. General Informatics (GI) also serves as a consulting firm that focuses on IT security, operational maturity and adherence to various regulatory compliance standards.

What are some advantages of being located/doing business in the Capital Region?

Baton Rouge has always been the headquarters for General Informatics and has provided the perfect mix of diversity of thought, a talented and hungry workforce, and a city big enough to provide our incoming teammates from other cities and states a great place to live.  Our customers are warm and excited to partner with a regional firm based right here in Baton Rouge.

Why did you decide to invest in BRAC?

BRAC is working diligently to address the top issues that challenge commercial and government business today. They listen to what the small business folks of the area are struggling with and work with us to try and address those issues.

What would you say to companies contemplating joining BRAC?

It’s a must, but you will get out of it what you put into it.  You can’t join and think that BRAC is going to guarantee you success. They will guarantee you the opportunity to have a seat at many tables that you otherwise would not have been privy to.

What do you anticipate for your company in the next five years? For the Capital Region?

Growth – Rising tides lift all ships and Baton Rouge is growing, as is GI.  We have already made one acquisition in the state, have two more planned, and we have organically grown into Alabama and Mississippi.  Growth in these two adjacent states means growth for Baton Rouge because our headquarters is here and will be for the foreseeable future!
