If there’s one thing the Capital Region does well, it’s music and movies, and quarantine won’t stop us from enjoying the things we love! Many local businesses and artists are bringing music and movie entertainment to you from the comfort of your couch. Check out a few of these shows and enjoy the talent and beauty of Baton Rouge.
- Baton Rouge General and the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge have teamed up to bring you Music is Medicine, a livestream concert of your favorite Louisiana artists on Friday, April 24 from 5 – 6:30 p.m. Artists include Marc Broussard, Parish County Line, JST DAVID, Justin Garner and Palomino Darling. Donations are being accepted through Baton Rouge General’s COVID-19 Operations Fund and the Arts Council’s Creative Relief Fund. A virtual tip jar will also be available for each artist.
- The Manship Theatre has partnered with a few select film distributors to bring you Virtual Cinema—a way to view films that would have been in theatres right now. A portion of the film’s rental fee goes back to the Manship Theatre.
- Visit Baton Rouge has compiled a list of blockbuster hits that were filmed in or around Baton Rouge. Watch some of these films and see if you recognize any familiar spots. Bonus—there’s a Baton Rouge–themed Spotify playlist at the bottom of the list.
- Speaking of Baton Rouge blockbusters, the Baton Rouge Film Commission has created a movie bracket of movies filmed in Baton Rouge. Vote for your favorites and see if they come out on top!

Workin’ It: BR Works at brac.org/recovery
BR Works, an initiative of BRAC, was created to help connect people to local job opportunities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The site lists job opportunities with local companies and compiles various resources for job seekers. Any company in the nine-parish region can have its open positions added to the site. Want to add an open position? Simply complete the Workforce Impact Form.
In the “Workin’ It” section of the newsletter we feature exciting job opportunities and/or professional organizations in the Baton Rouge Area. The positions featured are from companies who are BRAC investors and not necessarily positions at BRAC. For more information about BRAC’s talent development program or to advertise an open position, email talent@brac.org.
