As part of BRAC’s marketing staff, the Manager/Director of Events plays a pivotal role in the success of the goals, priorities, and initiatives of BRAC’s five-year, regional strategic plan, BRING IT: bolstering our talent pipeline; diversifying our industry base and job opportunities; creating a more inclusive economy; and enhancing our region’s livability. 

Job Description

The Manager/Director of Events is responsible for the development and execution of a variety of events that support BRAC’s strategies and work across a wide array of customer segments and stakeholders. The position title given of Manager or Director will be determined based on experience.

Major functions include: 

• Serve as internal support for all departments’ event-related activities 

• Research and schedule appropriate dates for events 

• Develop innovative event themes that serve event objectives and attract the appropriate target audience 

• Manage overall event design (e.g., layout/flow, lighting, décor, menu, entertainment, signage) and execution for a diverse set of events and programs 

• Develop event budgets and manage income and expenses 

• Set up event registration in BRAC’s CRM/events management software 

• Work with other marketing team members to develop collateral for event promotion 

• Work with the investor development department to develop sponsorship opportunities 

• Select vendors and manage their roles and budgets 

• Negotiate contracts with vendors to ensure the best terms for BRAC 

• Coordinate staffing needs for event execution including recruiting staff volunteers and assigning duties 

• Review invoices for accuracy and process for payment 

• Survey event participants following events and use feedback to continuously improve events based on attendee needs 

• Update staff on upcoming events

The Manager/Director of Events reports to the Senior Vice President of Marketing. 

The Person

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, broad project management experience, extensive familiarity with event development and execution, strong creative skills, well-developed time-management skills, and the ability to seek innovative solutions and take initiative to achieve goals. A bachelor’s degree is required. A minimum of three years of experience in event planning and/or similar positions is required. Minimal travel will be required. Additionally, a strong command of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) is required.
