Meet Laura Siu
Occupation: Event Planner and Social Media Manager
Organization: Laura Siu Planning & Events
When and why did you get involved with BRAC?
I got involved with the Baton Rouge Area Chamber in November of 2017 and became an ambassador in January of 2018. I got involved with BRAC after one of my friends told me how the Chamber helped his business grow. I love many things about BRAC. One is that they have an Investor Portal which helps keep the engagement between investors and stakeholders around the region. BRAC also hosts luncheons, happy hours and keynote speakers that allow us to learn more about the region and ways to improve our businesses.
Tell us more about how you are involved in Baton Rouge?
I serve as the co-chair of communications for Club Blue, an organization that supports the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Baton Rouge. I’m also a Junior League of Baton Rouge member, a Forum 35 board member and Forum 35’s Reindeer Run chair.
Why do you stay involved with BRAC?
I stay involved with BRAC because I believe in its mission of making a better Baton Rouge to live and thrive in.
What would you tell someone considering becoming a BRAC investor?
Come join us and get involved! It doesn’t matter if your business is big or small. There is always something to do when making a difference in the Baton Rouge we want to see.
What do you see for the future of Baton Rouge? How will we get there?
I see Baton Rouge continuing to grow as a hub for entrepreneurs and becoming one of the small cities noted nationwide for its economic development. We will get there by continuing to supply community platforms for entrepreneurs to thrive, such as Baton Rouge Entrepreneurship Week and the Mid City Makers Market.
What’s one of the most exciting things you see happening in the Baton Rouge Area today?
One of the most exciting things is seeing Government Street grow with new businesses and community events. It shows that the Baton Rouge community has emerging leaders that are joining together to build the community they always envisioned.BRAC’s Ambassador Program is designed to allow company representatives to actively build relationships with BRAC investors and business leaders while serving as advocates of BRAC’s work.
Each month, BRAC highlights one of these ambassadors in the Ambassador Spotlight. To learn more about the Ambassador Program visit the program page here.
