Paychex plans to expand Baton Rouge office, add 100 jobs

Business Report

Paychex, a New York-based human capital management firm with a Baton Rouge office, announced today that it is expanding and has plans to bring 100 new direct jobs to the Capital Region.

Hiring for the additional jobs, which have an annual average salary of $32,000 plus benefits, is currently underway, according to Louisiana Economic Development. The company also says it is planning to retain 60 jobs in the Baton Rouge area.

Paychex, which provides outsourced human resources, payroll and insurance services, has two locations in Louisiana—one in New Orleans and one in Baton Rouge. The local office has been in operation since 1980 and is one of the company’s regional service centers.

Last year, in anticipation of the expansion, Paychex relocated the Baton Rouge office from a 7,000 square-foot-building to a nearby 14,000 square-foot-building on Sherwood Forest Boulevard near Coursey Boulevard.

To secure the expansion of the company’s local office in East Baton Rouge, the state says it offered a competitive incentive package that includes the services of LED FastStart, a workforce development program.

The company’s expansion is projected to more than double its workforce presence in Louisiana, according to the Baton Rouge Area Chamber.

“Through this expansion, Paychex will continue to provide services to small- and mid-sized customers all around the country. It also demonstrates the continued economic strength of the Baton Rouge Area,” says Adam Knapp, BRAC president and CEO.
