Roaming the Region: August Events
With a revitalized downtown buzzing with live music, dozens of museums, and art galleries; some of the best libraries in America; and over 180 parks which offer free activities ranging from rock climbing to paddle boarding lessons, there’s always something going on in the Baton Rouge Area to keep your calendar full.
Check out a few events happening around the region this month:
August 1-3: DIG Restaurant Week
The most treasured Baton Rouge amenity might just be our food – and nothing shows it off quite like DIG Restaurant Week. Take advantage by visiting participating restaurants and trying out their limited-edition menus. It’s the perfect week to try new places and dishes at a fraction of their normal cost.
August 9: Movies in the Park: Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse
Grab a comfy seat and join BREC at the BREC gymnasium for a free movie under the stars. Attendees can watch the action-packed, family-friendly movie Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse. Get there early to participate in games and activities before the movie starts.
August 10: Project River Cleanup
Looking for an outdoor volunteer opportunity? Head to Denham Springs to participate in the Project River Cleanup at the Amite River. Volunteers with access to boats and fishing nets are especially needed to help.
August 17: Vibes in the Ville
Enjoy live music, good food, and local shopping in downtown St. Francisville at this revamped event put on by St. Francisville’s Main Street merchants. Vibes in the Ville will have a “Woodstock” theme and plenty of music to transport you back to the era of good vibes and tie-dye.
August 22: Business Blitz
Boost your network at the Ascension Parish Chamber of Commerce’s Business Blitz. This tailgating-style event allows you to meet with local businesses while enjoying a few tailgating treats.
