With a revitalized downtown buzzing with live music, dozens of museums, and art galleries; some of the best libraries in America; and over 180 parks which offer free activities ranging from rock climbing to paddle boarding lessons, there’s always something going on in the Baton Rouge Area to keep your calendar full.
Check out a few events happening around the region this month:
March 5-7: South Louisiana Family Festival
The South Louisiana Family Festival, originally known as the Extreme Ranch Rodeo, has transformed from a rodeo into a family-friendly festival. The festival held at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center will feature a rodeo, craft fair, color run, food and live music
March 13: Boogie on the Bayou
Boogie on down to the Bayou Plaquemine Waterfront Park for Boogie on the Bayou, featuring live music from Phunky Monkeys and plenty of food. The event is free to the public.
March 14: Wearin’ of the Green St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Missing Mardi Gras? Don’t worry, you have one last chance to get your parade fix at the Wearin’ of the Green St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Throw on your favorite green attire and head on over for some family-friendly fun!
March 21,28 & April 4: Ceramics Basics Workshop
Learn something new at this three-week workshop designed to teach you all the basic tips and tricks of ceramics from throwing and hand-building to casting. The event is held at the West Baton Rouge Museum from 12 – 2 p.m. over three Saturdays.
March 26-28: Annual Fordoche Fair
Grab the family for a weekend of fun at the Annual Fordoche Fair! Held at Ryan Allen Shoup Park, this fair includes live music, great food, drinks, carnival games and rides. Thursday is also family night with all-you-can-ride bracelets.
March 28: Tunica Hills Music Festival and Jam
Discover your musical talents at the 4th Annual Tunica Hills Music Festival and Jam. Musicians will be dispersed throughout Parker Park in downtown St. Francisville to participate in impromptu jam sessions with guests of all levels of musical ability.
