September Ambassador Spotlight

Meet Stephanie Smith

Occupation: Business Development Manager

Organization: Snelling Staffing

Hometown: New Roads, LA

When and why did you get involved with BRAC?

I became a BRAC Investor in 2011, shortly after joining Snelling. I wanted to get involved in the business community, meet new people, and learn about the various initiatives that BRAC was leading.

Tell us more about how you are involved in Baton Rouge?

Through Snelling, I am involved in a variety of networking groups and associations in Baton Rouge and surrounding parishes. This involvement gives me an opportunity to keep up with the ever-changing business climate in our area.

Why do you stay involved with BRAC?

BRAC continues to grow and evolve to meet the changing needs of the Baton Rouge community. From leading economic development efforts to addressing workforce needs and exploring solutions to traffic issues, BRAC works to create solutions for some of Baton Rouge’s toughest challenges.

What would you tell someone considering becoming a BRAC investor?

If you want to be part of an organization that strives to make our community a better place to live and work, then become a BRAC investor. BRAC offers business networking events, opportunities to serve on issue councils and committees, legislative updates, and access to valuable market research.

What do you see for the future of Baton Rouge? How will we get there?

It’s exciting to see the Baton Rouge Area continue to grow and be a competitive player in the economic development arena, but there are also growing pains along the way. BRAC is working to develop creative solutions that address our challenges and nurture a thriving business and entrepreneurial community.

What’s one of the most exciting things you see happening in the Baton Rouge Area today?

I love to see that Baton Rouge has embraced entrepreneurs and offers programs to help bring their ideas to life. Just look at the variety of new businesses that have opened in the past few years – unique restaurants, bars, shops, food products, tech companies, breweries and distilleries, just to name a few. Baton Rouge is blessed with an abundance of creative and talented people.BRAC’s Ambassador Program is designed to allow company representatives to actively build relationships with BRAC investors and business leaders while serving as advocates of BRAC’s work.

Each month, BRAC highlights one of these ambassadors in the Ambassador Spotlight. To learn more about the Ambassador Program, visit the program page here.
