Mayor-president Sharon Weston Broome, along with Keep Baton Rouge Beautiful and the Great American Cleanup, is hosting the first ever Mayor Broome’s Clean Sweep EBR parish-wide cleanup event on Saturday, April 1.

Residents are asked to join the mayor and other community groups and businesses to pick up litter at various locations throughout the parish. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. with registration and the cleanup will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Areas in each of the 12 metro council districts will be targeted.

“I’m so excited about this event because we are bringing together a host of community groups and businesses so we can all make our city-parish better. A clean city is not only great for our residents, but it also affects tourism, economic development, and it even affects crime. We need everyone working together to make our community a place we are all proud to call home,” said Mayor Broome.

Other partners of the event include Visit Baton Rouge, Waste Management, Baton Rouge Area Chamber, Downtown Business Association, Baton Rouge Lodging Association, East Baton Rouge Parish Library, Baton Rouge 200, and the Downtown Development District.

Volunteers for the event are asked to wear a red t-shirt to honor the city’s bicentennial celebration. Volunteers can sign up individually or as a team. All cleaning supplies and water will be provided by ExxonMobil and Formosa Plastics.
